Sophos SFOS update – new features in v18.0.5
With the Sophos Firewall release 18.0.5, also called v18 MR5, Sophos is introducing new features in addition to bug fixes.
IPsec performance improvements
With the MR3 release, SSL VPN performance was improved so that, with the same hardware, significantly more SSL VPN connections became possible. With MR5, more IPsec connections are now also possible via the Sophos Connect client.

Port 443 had previously been reserved exclusively for WAF. This meant it was no longer possible to use the same port for SSL VPN. With MR5, WAF and SSL VPN can now be used together on port 443.
Azure Active Directory
This new feature will also make some of our customers happy. The Sophos Firewall can now be integrated with Azure Active Directory without requiring Microsoft’s costly “Azure Active Directory Domain Services”. Sophos explains how this works very clearly in its KB article: Sophos XG Firewall: Integrate XG Firewall with Azure AD
