Sophos Flexi-Port Module – 2-Port 10GbE NBASE-T and 2-Port 10GbE SFP+

The Sophos Flexi-Port module with two 10GbE NBASE-T and two 10GbE SFP+ ports adds fast network connections to a compatible XGS firewall. It combines copper and pluggable SFP+ connections in one module. This is useful when a firewall needs more suitable interfaces without replacing the entire appliance.

Combine copper and SFP+ appropriately

The two NBASE-T ports enable fast connections over suitable copper cabling. The two SFP+ ports use appropriate transceivers or supported direct-attach cables. Different endpoints can thus connect to the same firewall. Actual speed and distance depend on the port, other endpoint, cable and optics.

Match expansion to actual needs

Additional ports can provide a faster switch connection or another separate network segment. The module expands connectivity; it does not automatically increase firewall processing capacity. Additional traffic therefore requires assessment of existing capacity, policies and security inspections.

Check compatibility and installation first

The module is intended only for approved XGS rack models. It does not automatically fit every XGS appliance and is not interchangeable with earlier XG models. Confirm the precise firewall model, an appropriate free expansion bay and required media before buying. Select compatible transceivers separately.

Follow the device’s hardware instructions for installation; Flexi-Port modules are not designed for hot swapping. A scheduled maintenance window helps implement the network change in a controlled way. Selection must account for both connection needs and supported hardware.
