Sophos Next-Gen SIEM

Sophos Next-Gen SIEM complements a suitable Sophos XDR or MDR environment with additional log ingestion, analysis and long-term retention. Security Information and Event Management brings supported event data together so investigations and evidence are not limited by scattered logs or short histories. It suits companies needing security data for audits and traceable reporting.

Bring events from different sources together

Firewalls, identity services and other systems each record part of the picture. SIEM ingests supported log sources, extending the platform’s data coverage. Custom parsers help make suitable formats usable. Available events depend on configured integrations and actual collection. Connecting a product does not automatically collect all of its data completely.

Keep a longer history for later questions

An incident may only be discovered weeks or months after the first event. Longer retention helps reconstruct earlier activity and investigate its timeline. Sophos specifies standard retention of 13 months for Next-Gen SIEM. The Data Retention Add-on offers longer options. Coverage still depends on supported data and collection from active operation onwards; the service cannot recreate missing past events.

Prepare reporting and evidence

Compliance dashboards help view relevant data and prepare evidence for internal controls or external audits. Whether evidence meets a requirement depends on the actual demand, including data sources, completeness, permissions and operational processes. Buying a SIEM does not by itself satisfy legal or industry obligations.

SIEM complements detection and response

XDR and MDR remain responsible for threat investigation and response. Next-Gen SIEM adds logging, retention and analysis for broader evidence requirements. It is not a standalone replacement licence for existing protection and does not automatically include a new analyst-managed service.

Sophos assigns its current SIEM extension to Sophos XDR Powered by Secureworks and the corresponding MDR offerings. Check the existing platform, base entitlement and data connections before ordering. Licensed quantity covers the entire relevant XDR and MDR base of users and servers. Older log collectors may require migration for complete retention. Coordinated setup ensures the needed data is actually available for later investigations.
