Learn more about Sophos Switch CS1010-8FP
Sophos Switch CS1010-8FP combines fast network connections with power for connected devices. Its eight copper ports support speeds up to 10 gigabits per second and PoE; four additional SFP+ connections can serve as uplinks. It suits environments where powerful access points or other network devices require more bandwidth and power than a basic Gigabit connection provides.
Match bandwidth to the connected device
The eight NBASE-T ports support 1, 2.5, 5 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Devices with different connection speeds can run on the same platform. A suitable wired connection can prevent an unnecessary bottleneck for fast wireless access points. Actual speed also depends on the connected device and the suitability of existing cabling.
Power devices through network cables
The CS1010-8FP supports 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt PoE standards with up to 60 W per copper port. Its total PoE budget is 410 W. Loading all ports at 60 W simultaneously would therefore exceed the available budget. Selection should consider the combined power needs of all devices, allowing power supply and expansion headroom to be planned clearly.
Configure uplinks and network segments
Four 10 Gigabit SFP+ ports complement the copper connections for suitable links to the wider network. VLANs separate areas such as employees, guests and technical devices. Transceivers or direct-attach cables must match the other endpoint and planned distance. An SFP+ port alone does not determine the connection medium.
Operate locally or manage centrally
The hardware can be managed through its local web interface or command line. The separate CS1010-8FP Support subscription provides central management through Sophos Fusion, included firmware updates and extended support services. It is distinct from switch hardware.
The CS1010-8FP suits targeted expansion of fast, powered connections. Establish port requirements, actual PoE load, uplinks and management needs before buying. A lower connection class may suffice where most endpoints use ordinary Gigabit Ethernet.
