Sophos XGS 7500 Security Appliance

Sophos XGS 7500 Security Appliance is a powerful Sophos Firewall hardware platform for large enterprise and campus networks. The modular 2U rack appliance combines fast network interfaces with expansion options and redundant power. It suits central gateways handling many connections, business-critical applications and extensive security inspections.

Inspect traffic and accelerate it selectively

The XGS platform combines a CPU with an Xstream Flow Processor. Eligible traffic can take the accelerated processing path, while security inspections follow the configuration. Sophos Firewall provides application control, intrusion prevention and encrypted-traffic inspection within the licensed scope. Hardware alone does not automatically include every additional protection package.

Sizing depends on traffic actually inspected. Basic firewall throughput is not equivalent to performance with TLS decryption or extensive threat protection. Traffic mix, concurrent connections and active policies should inform selection alongside internet bandwidth.

Connect fast interfaces flexibly

The XGS 7500 provides fixed Gigabit copper ports, 10 Gigabit SFP+ connections and QSFP28 connections up to 40 gigabits per second. Flexi-Port expansion adds suitable interfaces. This allows existing segments and faster connections to be brought together on one firewall platform. Modules and transceivers must match the appliance, medium and other endpoint; they are not automatically included with every interface.

Use redundancy within the appliance

Two internal hot-swappable power supplies and two NVMe SSDs support availability-focused operation. Effective power redundancy also requires appropriately planned feeds. This equipment protects against certain internal failures but does not replace a complete high-availability pair of firewalls. Maintenance and recovery remain part of operations planning.

Select protection and capacity together

The XGS 7500 is offered as standalone hardware. Appropriate protection licences and support are selected for the model. The XGS 8500 is the larger platform for environments needing higher capacity and 100 Gigabit connectivity.

Before ordering, establish inspection requirements, interfaces, rack space and availability plans. This creates a configuration suited to the actual network with room for its development.
