In this article I would first like to introduce you to our new logo, which we commissioned especially for our 5th anniversary. After that, I take a quick and crisp look back at 2017 and touch on a few things that happened at our company.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
For its birthday: Avanet gets a new logo<\/h2>\n\n
I know you’re probably thinking, “Why do you need a new logo after 5 years?” Of course, you are not completely wrong. But as you will read further down in the annual review, after 5 years of Avanet we have “grown up”, so to speak. The start-up idea of not spending money on things that we could somehow do ourselves is moving more and more into the background. Over the years, we have focused our business model on IT security with Sophos and would now like to somehow herald a new age.<\/p>\n\n
But there were also a few things that bothered us about the current logo. For example, we often heard feedback that it looks very similar to the “Angular JS” logo. Since we even rely on this JavaScript framework from Google ourselves for mobile and also web projects, it naturally bothered us even more. Another point that turned out to be impractical was the sign with the “A”, which was also used as the initial letter of “Avanet”.<\/p>\n\n
Due to the above reasons, we decided in October to give our logo a “redesign” and leave the work to a professional. The step has now been taken in any case and there is no turning back. We kept the sign as a logo in any case, as it is still excellent for a company that specializes mostly in IT security.<\/p>\n\n When we founded Avanet on 12\/12\/2012, the first thing was to put as many offers as possible on our website that we could somehow make money with. Since no one knew us yet, we wanted to address as large a mass as possible to increase our chances of getting an order.<\/p>\n\n Even though I am still convinced today that we would hardly have survived 5 years without this approach, it also shows very clearly that we did not enter self-employment with a concrete business plan. We just went on this adventure.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n However, each additional year in Avanet has shown that we need to be more focused to be successful in the longer term. Anyone who knows us a little knows that this focus has been “Sophos” for about three years.<\/p>\n\n This year, we spent practically 85% of our time selling, supporting and, of course, deploying Sophos products. In addition, we still invest a lot of time in our online presence to make buying Sophos products as easy as possible.<\/p>\n\n The continuing success with Sophos has also prompted us this year to turn our GmbH into a AG. We wanted to send a signal that we are serious about Avanet and that we stand behind our company 100%. As we continue to focus on IT security as the main pillar of our services in the future, this step seemed to make a lot of sense to us for reasons of “trust”.<\/p>\n\n A highlight this year was definitely the Sophos Discover Conference in Lisbon! Since the word “vacation” has become rather foreign to us in recent years, at least once a year Sophos helps us leave our offices, hop on a plane and discover a new place in this world! We are already looking forward to the Discover Conference 2018, if we have the privilege to be there again at all!<\/p>\n\n It has always been a goal of ours and this year it worked out. We have moved up from Gold to Platinum Partner with Sophos. Considering what we still want to achieve with Sophos, this status of course helps us immensely. On the one hand, it confirms that we are on the right track, but of course it also helps us to continue to offer our customers attractive products and services.<\/p>\n\n The last item in this annual review belongs to the “Sophos Licensing Portal”. On June 12, 2017, we officially launched our new website at sophos.avanet.ch<\/a> and have since implemented more features on our to-do list. Our knowledge base<\/a> is growing and growing and also on our new news page<\/a> new articles appear regularly.
